How To Keep Going With God

Summary of a great Sermon by Ven. Mark Boesser

1. Make A New Start Each Day - Forgiveness for the past

Hope in Christ for the future

His risen presence and resurrection power with us today

2. Keep Short Accounts - Take inventory frequently

Promptly admit it when you are wrong

Seek God's forgiveness and other person's

Make amends whenever possible, except when to do so will injure more than help

Forgive those who have injured you

3. Enjoy The Journey - "On the way" is important as well as the destination

Joy in Christ, even in the midst of difficulty, hardship, pain

4. Keep Under Orders - We exist to serve Him, not He us. Remember Who's in charge

Regarding the work He sets us to : Accept it from Him, do it for Him, leave it with Him

5. Keep Fellowship With God - Practice the presence of God through prayer, meditation, study of the Bible, corporate worship, especially Holy Communion

You want God's Holy Spirit in your life, ... ask Him

6. Keep Fellowship With Others - Single logs don't burn well

Christ comes to people through people

7. Witness To The Love Of God, The Grace Of God In Jesus Christ - Daily

Don't hesitate to use your own experience and the experience of others to tell what Christ has done ... what Christ can do

8. Find Areas Of Need - around you. Expand your horizon

Seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself.

With God's help strive for justice and peace among all people, respecting the dignity of every human being

9. Give God The Praise - Whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God through Him

I am a little church (no great cathedral)

Far from the splendor and squalor of hurrying cities

--I do not worry if briefer days grow briefest,

I am not sorry when sun and rain make april

My life is the life of the reaper and the sower,

My prayers are prayers of earth’s own clumsily striving

(finding and losing and laughing and crying) children

whose any sadness or joy is my grief or my gladness

around me surges a miracle of unceasing

birth and glory and death and resurrection:

over my sleeping self float flaming symbols

of hope, and I wake to a perfect patience of mountains

I am a little church (far from the frantic world with its rapture and

Anguish) at peace with nature

--I do not worry if longer nights grow longest,

I am not sorry when silence becomes singing

Winter by spring, I lift my diminutive spire to

Merciful Him Whose only now is forever:

Standing erect in the deathless truth of His presence

(welcoming humbly His light and proudly His darkness)
