Mother's day Breakfast! May 11 from 9AM - Noon. Treat Mom to a nice breakfast on her special day! Scrambled Eggs, French Toast with syrup (Mmmm!), Hash Brown Patties, Sausage Links, Assorted Pastries and Orange Juice, Coffee, Tea or Milk. $6.00 per plate for adults and $3.00 for children.
Saint Simon's Annual Meeting will be held on Trinity Sunday, May 18th. There will be only one service that day and it will be celebrated at 9am! This will also be the last day the choir will sing before their Summer break. The annual meeting will immediately follow the service.
God Willing and The People Consenting, The Rt. Rev. J. Michael Garrison will ordain Melissa Ellen Remington to the Sacred Order of Priests. Everyone is invited to Saint Simon's Episcopal Church at 11 am on May 24th. A reception will immediately follow. Your presence and prayers are requested. Clergy: Red or Festive Stoles.
Flower Sale! The Stewardship Commission's annual flower sale will begin on Mother's Day, May 11. Order forms should be turned in by May 22 and Pick-ups are on Saturday May 31st.
Pastoral Care Emergency Fund Update - To date we have collected $119.00 for our pastoral Care Emergency Fund. This is a very good beginning, but we need more, so additional envelopes have been placed in each pew. Please remember that your donation can make a difference to a family in need! The Profit from this years fish dinners is $4885. Thanks to everyone for their hard work and dedication to this important fund raiser.
The Memorial Bricks were put in just before the snow arrived. Many of you had a chance to view them. When the snow is gone and Spring arrives, we will be seeding the surrounding lawn and putting in some landscaping. If you are interested in helping or making a donation to help defer the cost, call the church office. Memorial bricks are still available.
Moden Endowment - Bruce Moden, son of Ralph and Rachel Moden, recently presented a gift in memory of his parents to our American Funds Endowment investment. The Moden Family were all active at Saint Simon's beginning in the 1940's, raising their 5 children here. Ralph passed away in 2001 and Rachel passed away last Fall. We appreciate the Moden Family remembering our church in this way, as many of us will always remember Ralph and Rachel.
Rector's Bulletin Board - Check out this new bulletin board to the left of the Mary Stevens Room. I will be posting information regarding Diocesan, Province II, national church, ecumenical, and inter-faith events, as well as sermon notes and suggestions for your spiritual life and ministry. - Fr. Cornell Cooperative Extension of Erie County, which now has their program for South Buffalo in the Elliott Building (rooms 1 and 2 on the left side of the hall across from WIC), is currently meeting every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30-4:30PM. For information on their nutritional and other programs, please call 206-0103, or 206-0104.
Ministry of the Tool Belt & Paint Brush We will be meeting on Monday's from now on, this is a change from our old day! Your assistance in maintaining and beautifying the buildings and grounds is needed as much as ever. If you can help, please contact Bob Langendorfer or Walt Simpson. Our group normally meets on Mondays at 8:30 am and coffee is always available!
The Food Pantry Needs Clothing for the Food Pantry Clients - Please leave clean clothing on the large library table in Riexinger Hall. The Food Pantry has a list of all food stuffs needed. Please be mindful of the Pantry's needs and collect what you can from the list and please bring to church. We will have an In-Gathering on the first Sunday of each month! Food Items Needed - Tuna, Macaroni, Soup, Mac & Cheese, Kleenex, Toilet paper, Juice, baby Products, Jelly, Spaghetti Sauce, Napkins, Canned Fruit & Vegetables, and any Non-Perishable Items.
Parish Prayer List - If you wish a name placed on the Parish Prayer List, please send it c/o Judy Elliott at the church address. List the name of the person you wish held up in prayer, the length of time you wish their name on the list, and your name. The Parish Prayer List is published in the weekly Sunday bulletin.
Votive Candles - Light a candle in the back of the Church for a Loved One. We ask a small donation of $3.00 to cover the cost of the Candles, Thanks! Barb King and Judy Elliott
Coffee Hour Hosts - Needed each Sunday! - Please take a turn; sign up on the yellow sheet on the bulletin board in the Mary Stevens Room. All you need to do is bring breakfast munchies; coffee/tea are always made ahead of time. Of course coffee donations are always accepted! Dish Towels needed! The drawers are empty! Watch those sale papers!
Rector's Appointment Hours - Father Ralph is available most mornings from 10 am - 12:30 pm. Please call ahead to make sure he is going to be available or to schedule an appointment for a mutually agreed to time.
Church Office Hours - 9:30am - 12:30pm Monday - Friday, The Weekly Bulletin Deadline is Tuesday at 12:30 pm.
WIC Program at Saint Simon's Church - WIC staff and clients meet at Saint Simon's 4 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday), in the Elliott Education Building, from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Hundreds of women and children are served weekly by WIC of Erie County, and we are indeed fortunate to have Saint Simon's as the site for this outreach program to our community.
