Ministries At Saint Simon's Episcopal Church We have much to give, much abundance in our lives. We have gifts of homes, talents, families, ability and resources, and we have the joy of sharing a portion to strengthen the Ministry of Christ. As we have means, we are able to share with others.
Acolytes - Assist at the altar during worship services. Altar Guild - Set the Lord's table at Holy Communion and care for the linens & the vessels. Chalice Bearers - Administer the chalice of wine at Holy Communion. Children's Chapel - Teens and adults who assist in leading worship in the Chapel. Children's Chapel convenes Sundays at 9:45 AM. Church School Teachers - Teach Sunday morning for 45 minutes, grades 1-6. Choir - Lead the people in music at the 10:00 AM service on Sundays. Eucharistic Ministers - Assist Father Ralph in distributing Holy Communion to shut-ins and nursing home residents. Fish Dinners - Every Friday during Lent, 4-7PM - Fish, French Fries, Homemade Salads, Rye Bread and Desserts. Food Pantry - Every Thursday 8AM - serves over 100 eligible persons each week in the South Buffalo zip codes. Lectors - Read the lessons and lead the congregation in prayer at worship services. Out-to-Lunch Bunch - Meets on the third Tuesday of each Month - purely social - Dine at a different restaurant each time. Everyone Welcome! Pastoral Care Committee - Visit the sick and shut-ins, and send cards. Stevens Guild - Women of the parish who hostess receptions and gatherings for church functions, funerals, baptisms, etc. . Sale and Supper - Held annually in November - Bazaar with a Family style Roast Beef Dinner served from 4PM-7PM. Baked goods, crafts, theme basket raffle, angels, $1.00 raffle ticket, Surprise boxes, and jewelry for sale at the Bazaar. Stewardship Commission - A group dedicated to the stewardship of time, talent, and treasure within the church, and outreach ministries. Meet's monthly to plan the annual pledge campaign, as well as the annual outreach project. Tool Belt & Paint Brush - maintains and beautifies the buildings and grounds. Ushers - Welcome people to worship, receive and present the offerings, assist people coming to the altar to receive Holy Communion. Vestry - Elected members who offer their time to serve on this governing board of the church. The Vestry meets on the third Monday of each month. Worship Planning - Help plan worship services that are reverent and relevant.
